Frank Blades Bio

Frank Blades is a British songwriter, composer and producer born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and now based in Ceredigion in West Wales.

Frank writes an eclectic mix of songs and music from current commercial pop and country, through hard rock and singer-songwriter, to children’s songs and instrumentals for film and TV sync.

Writing and recording in his own studio in an isolated cottage means that most of his songs are totally self-penned, but Frank has also collaborated with artists and songwriters from across the world. Amongst his released songs are the lush ballad ‘Keep Loving Me’ released by Scandi-Scot singer Sofie Rose, upbeat pop dance banger ‘Gonna Wanna Dance’ by Norwegian pop star Dinaye, and ‘O! Dark’ning Night’ a traditional Christmas Carol released by Bristol-based duo Annâme (all available to hear on Spotify).

Before moving to Wales in 2017, Frank spent over a decade as a professional musician performing in comedy-folk band The Mangledwurzels in South-West England, clocking up over a 1000 gigs on keyboards and vocals. The band release two albums and an EP, containing several of Frank’s self-penned offerings – mostly songs about cider, tractors and sheep.

A former Musicians Union activist and committee member, Frank is currently sits on the The Ivors Academy Welsh Council promoting songwriters and composers across Wales.
