Music For World Peace Records Releases

BlueStar

BlueStar is a collective group of musicians, friends and family who have played together over three decades. Our origin is in the roots and Indie clubs and pubs of London and in the southeast, spreading over the years to West Yorkshire and Scotland.   We headlined at most of the major roots/alt pubs and clubs in London as the ‘Stubbs’, including frequent late 80s/ 90s appearances at the Mean Fiddler, Brentford Red Lion, Hare and Hounds, and Sir George Robey (Powerhaus) as well as the London Marquee. Principal members include John Mitchell on resonator tenor guitar, mandolin/violin and bass, David Topliff on e-banjo and guitar, Neil Haverson on rhythm guitar and John Warner on bass.

In the pre COVID 2000s we could be found in Kent and on the southeast coast of England playing most of the folk club venues as regular performers in the ‘RedRoot’ line-up with the addition of Glenn Lamberton on bass and Kevin Haugh on accordion.

Currently we are working under the ‘BlueStar’ banner with the addition of Oliver Mitchell on the fiddle. We like experimenting with roots, blues and Jazz and you will hear elements of all these influences in our work. Because of our deep exposure to the live pub and club circuit, we strive to keep an acoustic and live feel to our recordings. Hopefully, you will find our music invigorating and uplifting.
